PRP - POLISHED ROTOR PADS
The PRP pad is desinged to minimize material deposits 'smudging' and the 'scoring' of rotors due to aggressive abrasives normally used. For a brake pad to work efficiently, it has to be 'bedded', which is a transfer of friction material onto the rotor face. This is in most chases where the damage occurs on polished and show style rotors. The PRP compound was designed for minimal 'bedding' and therefore reduces the unsightly deposits on the rotor. Modern day friction materials are designed for long life and in most cases very high performance. The materials used to achieve this specification create an appearance on the rotor which custom bike builders find unacceptable. This is where the PRP material differs, using alternative components which focus on appearance of rotors more than absolute performance. Interestingly, the PRP achieves all of this while still providing stopping power often exceeding OE specifications!
SINTERGRIP XR - SINTERED ROADRACING PADS
Working closely with the top level Factory race teams of Honda and Yamaha in the ultra competitive World and AMA Supersport arena, FERODO has developed the SinterGrip XR race compound pads. The focus on the World Supersport Series as a development vehicle is due to the higher braking demands inherent in regulations requiring the O.E. braking systems being retained. The 600 SS machines routinely run substantially higher line pressure than their Superbike counterparts, putting much greater actual demands on the brakes. Considering that their lap times are a mere couple seconds off the faster, more powerful World Superbikes (with nearly unlimited brake systems) underscores the importance of friction material and provides an ideal venue for the development of new, leading edge technology.
